Airdrie had to make do with a share of the spoils when their first home fixture under the new regime finished in a 1-1 draw with Raith Rovers.
The Diamonds included seven Spanish imports and it was a goal made in Spain which put them in front.
In the 15th minute Austin McAnn sent over a perfect cross which Fabrice Moreau headed back into the path of Sanjuan. His sweet strike gave Raith keeper Guido Van de Kamp no chance.
Rovers went close hitting the woodwork twice.
The second-half was a bit of a ill-tempered affair, which appeared to suit the visitors. And on 71 minutes they exposed the Diamonds rearguard which allowed Burns to score easily and rob the large home crowd of an opening victory.
