Stranraer kicked-off their campaign with a 2-0 home win, but newboys Forfar made them work hard for the points.
The Loons rarely looked like troubling Stranraer, but it took the home side three minutes into the second half for Ian Harty to put them ahead.
Andy Paterson laid the ball into the striker's path and he cracked the ball high into the net from outside the box. Stranraer went further ahead on 72 minutes after a slick passing move.
Paul Walker set up Michael Geraghty and he gave the keeper no chance.
Forfar did have the ball in the net on 87 minutes through substitute Ralph Brand but the goal was ruled off for a foul on the keeper.
