Full-time: Hamilton Academical 2 - 0 Dumbarton
Soccernet.com

Hamilton took the first step towards reclaiming their Second Division status with a comfortable 2-0 win over Dumbarton.

The first half was fairly even with few chances at either end.

Brian Vaugh missed two good chances within five minutes of the re-start, but made amends on the hour when he worked a short corner with Martin Bonner to provide the cross for Alex Eadie to head the opener on his debut.

The Sons had chances through Andy Brown, Chris Smith and John Dillon, before Accies opened their account.

David McFarlane incredably side-footed an Eadie cross over the bar inside the six-yard box in 80 minutes, but Accies snatched their clinching second four minutes from time.

Jim Sherry , on loan from Livingston, provided a 35-yard diagonal pass which Allan Russell latched on to before firing the ball into the roof of the net.
