Dundee proved their opening day win at Motherwell was no fluke with a convincing 3-0 win over Dunfermline at Dens Park.
An early own goal from Justin Skinner, and second half penalties from Juan Sara and Fabien Caballero leaves the Dark Blues flying high at the top of the Scottish Premier League.
But for new boys Dunfermline it was a cruel lesson which showed them just how hard the top league can be.
It may be a long season for the Fifers who struggled to compete in this one-sided game.
After last week's spectacular victory at Fir Park there was a healthy crowd inside Dens Park to see how the Dark Blues would fare.
And within 10 seconds the fans' faith was rewarded as the home side took the lead.
Javier Artero stormed down the right hand side and outpaced Pars defender Barry Smith before whipping in a low cross. Justin Skinner attempted to clear - but could only watch in agony as the ball slid past keeper Marco Ruitenbeek.
The home crowd could hardly believe their eyes as Dundee moved quickly to add to their early lead.
In the seventh minute Caballero almost took advantage of a Michael Doesburg slip-up - but Ruitenbeek was out quickly to cover.
Caballero and his Argentinian team-mate Sara were tormenting the Pars defence with their skill and pace.
But it was another new signing, Giorgi Nemsadze, who almost made it two in the 21st minute.
The Georgian ran through the heart of the Dunfermline defence and rounded Ruitenbeek - but saw his shot cleared off the line by Skinner.
Dundee were looking dangerous on the counter-attack and a flighted ball from Patrizio Billio just failed to find Caballero with the Pars defence caught square.
Dundee keeper Rab Douglas was eventually called into action seven minutes from the break when he had to get down well to his left to save a Scott Thomson free-kick from 25-yards.
Dundee made a similarly impressive start to the second period and quickly raced into a 3-0 lead.
Seven minutes after the break they were awarded a penalty when Nemsadze looked certain to score before being pulled down by Pars skipper Ian Ferguson.
Sara confidently stepped up and gave Ruitenbeek no chance with his spot-kick.
Incredibly, three minutes later, Dundee were awarded another penalty when Doesburg hauled Caballero to the ground in an off-the-ball incident.
This time it was Caballero who netted sending Ruitenbeek the wrong way.
The home side were rampant now and threatened to add to their tally against the struggling Pars.
As the game entered the latter stages the home side were content to sit back and hit Dunfermline on the break - and in the 74th minute they were nearly gifted a fourth goal.
Ruitenbeek miskicked a backpass but was relieved to see the ball roll past the post for a corner.
Four minutes later Sara should have scored - but his weak shot from eight yards was easily saved by the Pars keeper, who was having a busy afternoon.
The final whistle marked the end of a convincing performance for the Dens Park table-toppers.
