Brechin got their season off to a winning start with a 2-1 home victory over Scottish League new-boys Elgin.
Brechin had most of the early pressure but were shocked on 24 minutes when Elgin took the lead.
A mistake by Smith gave away possession and Colin Milne played the ball through for Mark Slythe to race clear and supply a good finish.
Slythe might have had a second goal five minutes later when he shot just over the bar.
Brechin equalised in the 34th minute when Bailey had a shot tipped on to the post by Pirie and from the resultant corner Kevin Bain headed home.
Brechin sealed the win midway through the second half when Raynes and McKeith combined to set up Roddy Grant and the big striker made no mistake from the edge of the box.
