MONTEVIDEO (Reuters) - Uruguayan left-back Dario Rodriguez is leaving Penarol to join a German club though he does not yet know which one.
Rodriguez, who played in all of his country's matches at the World Cup and scored a brilliant long-range goal against Denmark, said
he believed the club to be Schalke 04 but was still waiting for his agents to confirm the details.
'The trip could be today or tomorrow and I'm waiting for them to confirm everything, the length of the contract and the club,' he said. 'I
believe that it is Schalke but they still haven't told me.'
'I think that everything, the goal, my years with Penarol and my performances in qualifying helped seal the transfer,' he added.
The 27-year-old has played 24 internationals since his debut against Hungary two years ago and has scored three goals.
He has been at Penarol since 1999 and played for Mexican club Toluca earlier in his career.
