The 31-year-old scored 19 goals during the season and finished with a five-game goal-scoring streak.

The Honduran native, the first Fusion player to capture the MVP award, also led the league with seven game-winning goals in his first MLS season.

The MVP was decided in voting by coaches, general managers, players and members of the Professional Soccer Reporter's Association.

Pineda Chacon received 44 percent of the votes in balloting to beat out teammate Diego Serna, who received 19 percent. Jeff Agoos of the San Jose Earthquakes finished third at 18 percent.
