JOHANNESBURG, Sept 30 (Reuters) - South African Football Association (SAFA) chief executive Danny Jordaan said on Sunday he would give up his job by the end of October and move to head South Africa's bid to host the 2010 World Cup.
'I will leave SAFA to go back to the bid,' Jordaan, who led South Africa's unsuccessful attempt to host the 2006 World Cup, told Reuters.
He said the move was decided at SAFA's annual general meeting on Saturday. It had been planned since March, Jordaan said, dismissing a City Press newspaper report blaming his departure on a simmering rift between SAFA members.
FIFA are expected to give details of a new system of rotating the World Cup between the five continents when officials meet for next year's congress in Seoul.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter has said that Africa would be the first continent to host the event under the new scheme but has yet to confirm when the rotation would start.
