RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug 7 (Reuters) - Cruzeiro named Ivo
Wortmann as their new coach on Tuesday, causing Coritiba to
become the second team to change coach since the Brazilian
championship started one week ago.
Wortmann walked out on his job at Coritiba to join Cruzeiro,
who are among the favourites to win the title.
He replaced Paulo Cesar Carpegiani, whose sacking on Monday
after just two matches and six days of the competition got the
so-called dance of the coaches off to a quick start.
Carpegiani was dismissed after Cruzeiro, who have spent
heavily to bring former Colombia captain Freddy Rincon and
former Fiorentina and Napoli striker Edmundo to the club, lost
their first two matches.
'This is the sort of situation I like. It's a challenge,'
said Wortmann. Coritiba have not yet named Wortmann's
replacement.
