BUENOS AIRES, May 14 (Reuters) - San Lorenzo and River Plate both won on Sunday to stay level on points at the top of the Argentine championship as the competition resumed following a players' strike.
San Lorenzo overtook River Plate on goal difference thanks to a 5-0 win away to Estudiantes, while their title rivals overcame Racing Club 3-0 at home. Both teams have 35 points and four matches to play in the Clausura (Closing) championship.
The matches were played one week late, last weekend's action having been postponed as the players went on strike over unpaid wages and bonuses.
The stoppage lasted 10 days until the players accpected a peace offer from the clubs, backed by the Argentine Football Association, on Thursday night.
San Lorenzo made light of the absence of injured leading scorer Bernardo Romeo as their goals were shared by Eduardo Tuzzio, Fabricio Coloccini, Raul Estevez, Leandro Romagnoli and Mario Santana.
With the score 0-0, Estudiantes missed a 10th minute penalty when Ernesto Farias's effort was saved by Sebastian Saja.
River Plate, missing midfielder Javier Saviola, sank Racing with goals from Martin Cardetti, Eduardo Coudet and Ariel Ortega as they recovered from Wednesday's shock Libertadores Cup defeat away to Ecuador's Emelec.
River, beaten 2-0 in Guayaquil, will attempt to overturn the deficit on Wednesday in the second leg of the second round tie.
