LOS ANGELES, Jan 21 (Reuters) - Ezra Hendrickson scored two goals, including the game-winner in the 78th minute, to give Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy a 3-2 victory against Olimpia of Honduras in the Champions' Cup final Sunday.
The Memorial Coliseum saw the Galaxy become the second professional soccer club from the United States to win North America's professional club championship. DC United was the first in 1998.
Los Angeles and Olimpia will represent North America in the second FIFA Club World Championship in Spain. The Galaxy also earned £50,000 for winning the Champions' Cup, with second-place Olimpia receiving £40,000.
Olimpia's Denilson Costa was named the tournament's most valuable player and top scorer. The Galaxy's Kevin Hartman received the award as the best goalkeeper.
Pachuca of Mexico took third place with a 2-1 victory against DC United in Sunday's first match.
Hendrickson's second goal put his side in front. After passing to Mauricio Cienfuegos, Hendrickson received Cienfuegos' through ball and volleyed it from seven meters inside the left post.
Olimpia's Danilo Tosello began the scoring with a penalty kick in the 34th minute. But Los Angeles scored two goals within three minutes to move ahead.
Hendrickson's two-meter header tied the score in the 36th minute, and Cobi Jones' 8-meter strike from the left side in the 39th minute gave the Galaxy a 2-1 lead. Robert Lima equalized in the 51st minute with a 6-meter header.
Pachuca's Omar Arellano scored the winning goal in the 38th minute. Arellano ran onto Cesareo Victorino's short ball and converted inside the left post from 10 meters.
Pedro Pineda gave Pachuca a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute. Carey Talley equalized in the 33rd minute on a 25-meter line drive.
Pachuca's Luis Alfonso Sosa was expelled in the 81st minute after receiving his second yellow card. Arellano received his second yellow card seven minutes later.
