SOFIA, March 18 (Reuters) - Yugoslav coach Slavoljub Muslin has started coaching Bulgarian champions Levski Sofia and will sign a contract with the club in a few days, a club spokesman said on Monday.
'Muslin started coaching the team but will sign the contract
later this week when the club lawyer is back from abroad,'
Levski spokesman Konstantin Petkov told Reuters.
The Yugoslav, who is expected to sign for a year and a half,
took Levski's first training session on Sunday together with his
new assistant - Yugoslav Sale Jankovic.
The 48-year-old coach will lead the team in their Bulgarian
Cup return leg match against second division Rislki Sportist on
March 20. Levski won the first leg 6-0.
Muslin, who coached Red Star Belgrade from 1999 until last
September, had previously spent 10-years coaching in France, the
highlight being a place in the UEFA Cup final with Bordeaux in
1996 after they started from the Intertoto.
Muslin replaced German coach Ruediger Abramczik, who was
sacked by the club on Wednesday despite winning five and drawing
two of his seven games in his two months in charge. A senior
club official said management and fans were not happy with the
way the team was playing.
Levski extended their lead to 10 points at the top of the
Bulgarian premier league after crushing Spartak Pleven 4-1 at
home on Saturday. Behind them are three teams on the same points
- Litex Lovech, CSKA Sofia and Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
