Mpenza set to return to Mouscron

Belgium international Mbo Mpenza is set to return to hometown club Excelsior Mouscron from Galatasaray.

Press reports in Belgium state that club president Jean-Pierre Detremmerie has reached an agreement with the Galatasaray striker, brother of Schalke's Emile. Both brothers made their names at Excelsior before joining Standard in a joint deal.

Mbo then moved to Sporting Lisbon in 1999, but found himself low down the pecking order at the Jose Alverade.

He ended up at Galatasaray after New Sporting coach Laszlo Boloni used the 24-year-old as a makeweight in the deal which saw Mario Jardel's return to Portugal.

Mpenza failed to settle in Istanbul, however, and never started a game for 'Sim Bom'.
