MUNICH, May 4 (Bundesliga) - No final day heroics for Bayern Munich, but an exciting game nevertheless at the Olympiastadion which the outgoing champions only just won against gritty Hansa Rostock.
With both Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund winning, there was to be no repeat of the past two seasons' glorious ending for Bayern.
But they needed to win to keep up any hope and did - but only just held on for the points.
Willy Sagnol and Mehmet Scholl scored either side of half-time and that looked enough with 10 minutes to play.
Rostock's Kevin Hansen got a goal back in the 82nd minute, but Giovane Elber reinstated the two-goal advantage within 60 seconds.
An injury-time strike by Marcus Lantz caused the 63,000 home crowd some anxiety, but could not deny Bayern maximum points and third place.
