Fluffed a toe-poke in the first-half of the Final - not much of a chance but the best of a dull first period - and was substituted before things got really exciting after the break. Showed flashes against Denmark but was kept quiet. Substituted for the impressive Viera but came back as a goal scoring subststitute against the Czechs. Now somewhat in the shadow of Zinedine Zidane since the 1998 World Cup, but there is no doubt Djorkaeff is an outstanding attacking midfield talent in his own right. He made his international debut in 1993 and has been a fixture in the French side ever since. A clinical finisher, he is an excellent runner with the ball and can unlock any defence with a killer pass. Scored against both Japan and Morocco as France warmed-up for the finals in Casablanca. Scored the winner and was fouled for the free-kick that gave Zidane the opportunity to fire in the first in the quarter-finals against Spain. One of his more accomplished games for the World Champions and a contender for man-of-the-match. Linked with Deschamps throughout the game to deny the Spanish majority possession. Almost scored a second from a free-kick late in the second half but Canizares saved well at the near post.
