A young Scottish midfielder who made the breakthrough into the Newcastle United first team at the beginning of the 2000/01 season.
Rangers were just one of a host of clubs that were trying to capture Kerr, but he decided to move south of the border with Newcastle.
The Scottish youth international made his debut for the Magpies when coming on as a substitute in a 2-0 win at Coventry City in September 2000. His season was then ended by a shoulder injury in February.
A very strong and hard-working midfielder, Kerr was originally a striker before dropping back into the centre of the park.
Only featured twice as a substitute in the FA Cup in the 2001/02 campaign, but has time on his side after signing an extension to his contract.
