Tore Andre Flo
Club: Sunderland
Shirt Number: 9
Position: Forward
Date of Birth: June 15, 1973
Birthplace: Stryn, Norway
Height: 6' 4"
Weight: 13.8

Profile:

The (once) much-coveted attacker's tall frame belies his skill and pace on the break.

Flonaldo, as he became known in Norway after his performances during France 98, loves running at defences and it is this that has made him the subject of number of bids from major European clubs.

A victim of the fabled 'rotation' system at Chelsea, he did not start as often as most experts would play him.

Has been accused of not scoring enough goals but has hit more than his fair share of important ones.

He started his career with Sogndal before spells with Tromso and SK Brann. Moved to Chelsea in August 1997 for just £300,000.

The striker left Stamford Bridge in November 2000 when joining 'struggling' Scottish giants Rangers for £12million. With the Gers lying an unprecedented fourth in the SPL, they were looking for extra firepower.

Flo scored 34 goals in 112 Premiership appearances - almost half from the bench - during his time with the Blues.

Made his Rangers debut in a 5-1 demolition of arch rivals Celtic at Ibrox, and was on the scoresheet as well.

But as Celtic's domination of the SPL continued, Flo failed to really settle north of the border. Scored 13 goals in the remainder of his first season with Rangers.

The 2001/02 campaign saw Flo net a creditable 25 goals for Rangers, picking up a winners medal in the two Scottish Cup competitions.

Rumours persisted that Flo would move on and in August 2002 Sunderland had a bid accepted. The striker was reluctant to move, but the Gers offered Flo a pay-off and he eventually penned a three-year deal at the same time as Marcus Stewart.
