United face Chelsea in the quarter-finals and Ferguson has pledged to field a strong side in his quest to win the trophy for the first time since 1992.

And even though he expects Claudio Ranieri to name a full-strength side, Ferguson believes United have a great chance to win the first domestic trophy of the season - and despite their reputation for not taking the competition seriously, he feels that tough draws have hindered United's chances in recent years.

`I don't know what side I am going to play, I am mulling it over,' he said.

`But I know Chelsea are going to play their strongest side and I have to take recognition of that and make sure we have a side that can win.

`We want to give one or two players the experience but the main structure of the team will be the same as Saturday.

`A home draw in a quarter-final is always a great incentive. There is no question we want to win the cup.

`I have used the Worthington Cup in different ways over the years and young players have had great experience through it.

`We've been a bit unfortunate with away draws in the last few years - Aston Villa, Sunderland, Tottenham, Arsenal. They were all difficult draws.'

And Ferguson has been impressed with his players' displays as they have recorded seven consecutive wins, while insisting the attitude in the camp was fine all along.

`There is no question that in the last few games the players have increased their performance level.

`But the attitude has been good all along. That is the foundation of where we are at the moment. We are pleased.'
