Migraine made Ljungberg miss Auxerre game

LONDON, Oct 4 (Reuters) - Arsenal midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg has revealed he pulled out of Wednesday's Champions League match with AJ Auxerre because of a migraine.

The Swede has just returned to action for the Premeirship leaders after a three-month lay-off with a hip injury but he was forced to miss their 1-0 away win in group A because of severe head pains.

The 25-year-old has suffered from migraines since he was 14 years old but this is the first time they have forced him to miss a match. He said he had vomited because of the pain and was numb down one side.

'It's like a nightmare. The pain was so bad this week that I puked,' Ljungberg said.

'I was very sick - but it became even worse. I lost my vision and could not feel anything down the left side of my body,' he told The Sun.

'Wednesday was terrible and frustrating. I suffer from these attacks about once a year and it seems there is nothing I can do to stop them.'

Three years ago Ljungberg was admitted to hospital for observation after he had a migraine attack at Arsenal's training ground at London Colney.

'Thank God I am starting to get used to them. Even though they are painful when they occur at least I know what is happening and how to deal with it," he said.

'Hopefully it will only take me a couple of days to recover and I will be available for the Sunderland game on Sunday,' Ljungberg added, looking ahead to Arsenal's game at Highbury.
