Davies: Three goals for Millwall (GaryMPrior/Allsport) |
The former England Under 21 international is yet to make an appearance for Saints this season and moves to injury-hit Millwall in search of first-team football.
And Davies, who cost Blackburn £7.25 million in 1998, could make his Lions debut against Saints' local rivals Portsmouth at Fratton Park.
The 25-year-old forward, who has netted just five goals in the last two seasons, has dropped behind James Beattie, Marian Pahars, Brett Ormerod, Jo Tessem and the ever elusive Agustin Delgado in the battle for forward positions at St Mary's.
Millwall are without injured Ireland international striker Richard Sadlier with midfielders Tim Cahill and Steven Reid also sidelined.
Manager Mark McGhee said: 'Obviously, it's a big boost to be able to bring a striker of Kevin's calibre in.
'He offers us somethign different from Neil Harris and Steve Claridge and is keen to prove himself again after his career has taken a bit of a backward step. We're gratefult o Gordon Strachan for allowing Kevin to come to us.
'Kevin is sure to face a bit of a hostile reception at Portsmouth, but I'm sure he'll be determined to make an impact," he told the club's official website.
Saints will also loan third-choice keeper Neil Moss to Third Division Bournemouth.
