Konchesky attended an appeal hearing in London today as he contested referee
Graham Barber's decision to dismiss him during Charlton's 3-2 home defeat by
Chelsea on the opening day of the Premiership season.
The appeal was unsuccessful and Konchesky must therefore serve a three-match
ban for a violent conduct dismissal, starting with this Saturday's local derby
at West Ham.
A statement on the FA's official website, www.thefa.com, read: 'Further to a
hearing this afternoon, the FA can confirm that the appeal of Paul Konchesky
against his dismissal has failed.
'Therefore, Konchesky will begin a three-match suspension this weekend.'
A statement on the FA's website confirmed: 'The appeal of Charlton Athletic's Paul Konchesky against his dismissal during the Premier League game between Charlton and Chelsea on the opening day of the season has failed.
'Konchesky will therefore begin a three-match suspension this weekend.'
Konchesky, who had given Charlton the lead in the game on August 17, was sent
off during the first-half when the home side were 2-0 up.
As well as the game at Upton Park this weekend, he will also now have to miss
the trip to Aston Villa on September 11 and the home game against Arsenal on
September 14.
