Leicester exit for Izzet and Wise
By Ray Matts

Muzzy Izzet will today become the target of a renewed transfer bid by Aston Villa while disgraced Leicester team-mate Dennis Wise could be on his way to Crystal Palace.

Izzet, 27, almost moved to Villa last season but chairman Doug Ellis refused to sanction an £8million bid.Yet Leicester, who are in serious financial difficulties, now look like selling the Turkey midfielder for £3.5m in order to save his £30,000 weekly wage.

Villa boss Graham Taylor has turned his attentions to Izzet after failing to sign Ipswich's Matt Holland. He said: 'Matt weighed up matters and decided to stay.'

Leicester will also be able to offload Wise before the deadline this weekend. The former Chelsea midfielder was given the boot for assaulting Callum Davidson but the League ordered he be reinstated in a case which is subject to an appeal this week.

Players union boss Gordon Taylor denied Leicester accusations that his organisation had taken sides in the affair. He said: 'The PFA has maintained only an observer's role.'
