A calf injury to Dennis Bergkamp has ruled the Dutch striker out of the game against Gary Megson's side, who lost their first two Premiership matches against Manchester United and Leeds.

Bergkamp will also miss Sunday's game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and manager Arsene Wenger will have to decide between Silva and Nwankwo Kanu to fill the gap.

Silva was unable to figure in the thrilling 2-2 draw at West Ham on Saturday after only returning from international duty with Brazil last Friday.

Wenger may opt to pair Silva with Patrick Vieira in midfield tonight, move Edu to the left and restore Sylvain Wiltord to his preferred role as the strike partner for Thierry Henry.

'Dennis is likely to be out for two weeks,' said Wenger. 'I haven't made up my mind yet about who will replace him. It could be Silva or Kanu.'

Wenger will decide in the next 48 hours which of his trialist goalkeepers will be signed as cover for David Seaman and Stuart Taylor.

The two favourites are former Argentinian international Carlos Roa and Rami Shaaban, of Swedish club Djurgarden. Roa is the preferred choice but Arsenal fear there could be work permit problems.

Seaman was particularly impressive in Saturday's 2-2 draw at West Ham, saving Frederic Kanoute's penalty. 'I am fine and I feeling really good,' said Seaman, who will be 39 next month. 'At my age you have to train that bit harder and also you have to bear in mind you can't train as long.

Seaman said he was 'apprehensive' about his first away game following his World Cup error against Brazil. 'There was some banter but you always get that at West Ham,' he said. 'They are a great set of fans. They love a mickey-take. But of course I was apprehensive. You always wonder what sort of reception you are going to get. But everything has gone well and my game is okay.'

West Brom have been given a boost by the swift recovery of central defender Darren Moore. He finished Saturday's defeat against Leeds with groin and knee trouble but he reported for training yesterday and will have a late fitness test today.
