And the Baggies boss admitted it could be a lengthy process in trying to bring
Hughes back to The Hawthorns.
Albion have agreed a fee of around £3million with Coventry for Hughes - who
moved to Highfield Road 12 months ago in a £5 million deal. But the personal terms could be the stumbling block with Albion having to
match the lucrative financial package Hughes enjoyed with the Sky Blues.
Megson admitted: 'If this deal for Lee Hughes comes off it will be good news
- from my point of view I did not want him to go last summer. I really thought he was a massive asset to this football club and when you
associate players with West Brom, the first one you thought of was Lee.
'I think Lee Hughes would be an asset to any Premiership side but it (the
deal) is not done and dusted and it has not happened in time for Saturday's
game.
'There are a lot of things that need to drop into place before this one
happens - and some you win and some you lose.'
