Blomqvist confident he'll be fit for Boro deal

Swedish winger Jesper Blomqvist is confident he will complete a move to Middlesbrough despite concerns over his fitness.

The former Manchester United star spent long stretches of his time at Old Trafford in the treatment room and is not match fit yet.

But Blomqvist, released by Everton over the summer, maintains he will be fit enough to undergo his medical next week and then put pen to paper with Boro.

`You should never say it's a deal until it's done, as there's still a bit of doubt before you pass the medical. I'm not worried though,' Blomqvist told a Swedish newspaper.

Blomqvist expects to be back in training next week, although it may be a few weeks before he is match fit again.

`There's every suggestion that I'll be back training in full after the weekend,'' he said.

`Then I hope to be able to play as soon as possible, although I don't know if I'll be fit in time for next weekend.'
