Robbie Keane is primed for a move from Leeds to Tottenham for a price Glenn Hoddle was desperately anxious to avoid.

Anderton: Heading North? (CraigPrentis/Allsport) |
Darren Anderton must go in the opposite direction, back under the influence of Terry Venables, the manager who handed him his initial break into big-time football at Spurs.
With Hoddle having failed to land Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes and abortive attempts to sign Rivaldo, Sunderland's Kevin Philips and Samuel Eto'o, the Real Mallorca and Cameroon striker, a deal with Leeds is creeping closer.
Spurs are desperate for a proven goalscorer but cannot afford the £12million being demanded by similarly cash-strapped Leeds for Republic of Ireland marksman Keane, who turned down a move to Sunderland last month.
In any event, Venables is not prepared to deal with his former club unless Anderton is allowed to link up with him at Elland Road.
Clearly it would suit both Hoddle and Venables to reach agreement on the respective valuations before the Premiership season gets under way next weekend. Anderton plus £7m in cash would probably prove acceptable to Leeds.
