Teddy Sheringham and Steffen Iversen were on target as Tottenham claimed a 2-2 draw against UEFA Cup holders Feyenoord in an entertaining clash at the Dutch club's De Kuip stadium.

Both teams fielded near full-strength sides and England striker Sheringham, who came on as a substitute in Saturday's 1-0 win over Watford for his first pre-season outing, started alongside Iversen in attack.

And it was the 36-year-old who opened the scoring after 23 minutes, volleying home with ease after being left unattended in the penalty area.

That prompted Feyenoord captain Paul Bosvelt to take the game to Spurs, and the 32-year-old former Netherlands international latched on to Leonardo's pass before crashing a shot against the crossbar with goalkeeper Kasey Keller beaten.

Feyenoord continued to press Glenn Hoddle's side in search of an equaliser, and their efforts were rewarded in the 36th minute when defender Ramon van Haaren struck an unstoppable 25-yard shot beyond Keller.

Both sides continued their attacking play in the second half and Feyenoord went 2-1 up after a wonderful move involving Liverpool and Leeds target Brett Emerton.

The 23-year-old Australia international raced clear down the right before picking out Bonaventure Kalou with a great cross, and the Ivory Coast winger stroked the ball home from close range.

Feyenoord's former Nottingham Forest and Celtic striker Pierre van Hooijdonk then saw one of his trademark free-kicks bring a flying save from Keller shortly after as the Dutch side looked to kill off the game.

Spurs battled on, however, and levelled the match with just four minutes left when home defender Kees van Wonderen left his team-mate and former Sunderland goalkeeper Edwin Zoetebier stranded with a misplaced back-pass. Norway international Iversen intercepted the ball and made no mistake, finishing comfortably to clinch a draw.
