Palace wait on Clinton

Crystal Palace departed for their tour of Wales without Clinton Morrison while he completes his on-off transfer to Birmingham.

The Republic of Ireland striker looks set to rejoin former Eagles manager Steve Bruce at St Andrews after being left out of the pre-season trip.

Birmingham had an initial £5 million bid rejected by Palace chairman Simon Jordan in March, but have come back with a player plus cash offer involving Andrew Johnson.

Palace have decided to cash in on Morrison now while he still has two years to run on his contract for fear he will not sign another.

A club spokesman said: ``Negotiations are continuing over Clinton's transfer to Birmingham.''
