Carlisle fail in Wadsworth bid

Carlisle director Mark Knighton has revealed he failed in a bid to reappoint Mick Wadsworth as the club's manager two weeks ago.

Wadsworth, who became Huddersfield Town manager earlier this week, was approached with permission from administrators HKR Bains and Watts about resuming the role he last held in 1996.

Knighton said: 'Mick would have returned to Carlisle United and looked forward to resurrecting his links with Cumbria but unfortunately for us Huddersfield Town came in for him at the last minute.'
