Carlisle's Rogers goes Dutch

Carlisle defender Dave Rogers has signed a two-year deal with Dutch Division One outfit Cambuur Leeuwarden after impressing on a two-week trial.

The 26-year-old, whose former clubs include Scunthorpe United, Peterborough United, Partick Thistle and Dundee, signed for Carlisle in September 2001 and made 26 appearances for the cash-strapped Cumbrians.

Carlisle press officer Phil Holmes said: ``Dave's absolutely made up.

``He paid for the travel expenses out of his own pocket and couldn't believe it when they offered him the deal. It's apparently a really good set-up and he'll be on a decent wage as well.''
