Fabrizio Ravanelli and Derby County have brushed aside speculation that he is on the verge of taking over as manager at Derby - but the player admits he would consider the offer if it ever came his way.

Ravanelli: Leaving the door open for the future (RossKinnaird/Allsport) |
In response to the reports on Todd's position, a statement on the club's
official website revealed: 'The club wishes to stress that no
one at Derby County has contributed in any way to these stories.
'They are not backed up with official quotes and can only have an unsettling
effect on the club.'
And the Italian striker insists he is focused solely on playing for the Rams,
languishing second from bottom in the Barclaycard Premiership, despite reports
that manager Colin Todd's job is under threat.
'No one has contacted me from the club, but I have seen it in the press,'
the Derby striker.
However, the 33-year-old has left the door open with Todd's future apparently
uncertain after only three months in the job.
'At this time I only think about being a player at Derby County, but if that
opportunity arises in the future I will evaluate it,' he said.
Ravanelli has scored 10 goals for the Rams since his summer move from Lazio
but he has not been able to lift the club out of the doldrums.
But the `White Feather' has frequently expressed his commitment and loyalty
and has already spoken of his desire to have a role at the club after his
playing days are over.
'I feel well in England. Since the first day at Derby they have helped me,
and I feel at home,' he said.
'I hope that I will stay here many years.'
