The man marked down for future England stardom had already equalised for Blackburn with a remarkable shot to level the score at 2-2.
But it was his final touch in the 89th minute which silenced this part of north London, although he needed some considerable assistance from Arsenal's £6 million goalkeeper Richard Wright.
A quite extraordinary match came to life four minutes before half-time when Keith Gillespie's deflected shot wrong-footed Wright.
Before that, the game had appeared locked in stalemate. The attacking play which Blackburn had unleashed to destroy West Ham 7-1 last week was clearly not going to be offered much chance because of Graeme Souness's caution on this trip to Highbury.
Robert Pires ended a run across the box with an equalising goal three minutes after the restart and, five minutes later, the Frenchman set up Dennis Bergkamp, who put Arsenal ahead with a shot that was too hot for Brad Friedel.
The entertainment level had risen dramatically and, in the 58th minute, Dunn scored with a thundering shot from 30 yards out which flew low past Wright's right-hand post after Lauren's poor clearance had presented him with the chance.
Thierry Henry looked to have settled this match in the 78th minute when he scored his 12th of the season, his eighth in the Premier League, with a left-foot shot which flew past Friedel.
But the drama continued and Dunn had the last word after a bad misjudgment from Wright.
The keeper, a hero in midweek for saving a penalty against Panathiniakos, came out to cover a Rovers attack but found himself stranded and Dunn was left free to hit a shot from the edge of the box which gave Rovers the point they deserved.
