Rushden & Diamonds' striker Justin Jackson has joined Nationwide Conference side Doncaster Rovers for around £150,000.The 26-year-old has signed a three-year deal with Rovers. He joined Rushden in 2000 for a non-league record fee of £180,000.
His agent called him the Michael Owen of non-league football.
He made 45 league appearances for Rushden, scoring 18 goals.
But he made a slow start to the current campaign, failing to get on the scoresheet.
The signing of Warren Patmore, from Yeovil, and the continued good form of fellow striker Duane Darby would seem to have seen him viewed as surplus to requirements.
Jackson's agent Lee Power said Jackson is sorry to be leaving Nene Park but is keen to take on a new challenge at Rovers.
Power said: "They made a fantastic offer to Justin and to Rushden. Doncaster realise that if they want to get promoted they will have to spend money on players like Justin.
"We all know he can score plenty of goals in this league as he's proved before and Doncaster are prepared to spend money on the Michael Owen of non-league football."
