Megson - Mind was on other matters

West Brom manager Gary Megson admitted his mind had been on other matters during his side's 2-1 defeat to Preston.

The loss kept the Baggies sixth meaning they will now face Bolton in the semi-finals.

And Megson said: "I am not being disrespectful but we tried to use this game as preparation for next week, and I am sure everyone else in the play-offs will have done something similar.

"Obviously our preparation wasn't this one, it was for next Sunday (semi-final first leg), now we've got Bolton it will be easier for us to prepare with the knowledge of who we're actually playing."

And Megson felt his men had a good chance against Wanderers.

"They're a team that can beat us and a team that we can beat - we've done it this season," he said.

"I would think they are favourites out of all the teams in the play-offs, a team with the already-built big stadium, a lot of internationals and a very high wage bill geared for the Premiership.

"But we'll do what we've been doing all season and do our best."
