The First Division club have won one League match in their last 13 and hope the Nigerian international can turn around their season.
Tranmere manager Aldridge said: 'We will certainly have a look at him, because we all know what he is capable of.
'He hasn't got a club at the moment but he's looking for one because he's been doing little apart from train on his own.
'He'll need some fitness training and ball work and to be involved in games, so we'll take things on from there.'
Amokachi's move to Manchester City fell apart in the summer after an old knee injury was discovered.
The 27-year-old is available on a free transfer from Turkish side Besiktas and has been training with Everton to sharpen his fitness.
