Chris Waddle has quit Sheffield Wednesday following the appointment of Paul Jewell as manager - and hit out at the club of showing him a 'lack of respect' over the job.
Waddle - who was reserve team coach at Hillsborough - walked out almost as soon as the former Bradford City boss was in place.
And the 39-year-old former England star, who spent a difficult season as Burnley manager, said he was angry about the way both he and ex-caretaker boss Peter Shreeves - now Jewell's assistant - had been treated.
He added: 'I am disappointed. They could have informed me two or three weeks ago. I think I've earned respect in the game and deserved to be told what the situation was, but I've been sitting around waiting for six weeks.
'Looking back I suppose I could have seen a while ago that I wasn't going to be in the frame, but it could have been sorted out weeks ago.
I've worked with some great people at the club, and the supporters were always fantastic to me. My feelings for them will never change.'
