Baggies aim to avoid Swansea upset

West Brom manager Gary Megson admits his side are ripe to be on the wrong end of a Worthington Cup shock as they travel to Second Division new boys Swansea in the first round.

The Baggies, pointless and goalless from their two First Division games, are set to be unchanged from the side which went down at home to Bolton on Saturday.

Megson has demanded his side do not make his worst fears become reality by taking a hammering at the Vetch Field.

He said: "I know Swansea will be rubbing their hands. We've not won a game, not taken a point and not scored so we'll be right up somebody's street.

"But it's up to us because we know that's the case and we have to show a bit of devilment."

Swansea will field a weakened side for the first leg game, but boss John Hollins is remaining tight-lipped about who will be missing from the starting line-up, although there are expected to be at least two absentees.

He said: "We've got a couple of knocks so the team will not be announced until shortly before the game.

"We're playing a big name side so it will be a good test for us. It will allow us to judge our progress over the last few months - we've been unbeaten since April 15."
